Goodbye tarmac and hello dust 5th June

The night had been below freezing and i was so glad that i had a good sleeping bag but getting out of it to get dressed is always awkward, especially when you have only a squat hole to relieve your toiletry requirements over.
Tarmac remained with us for just under 10 miles and then the road became one big construction site
You have no warning that they are building a bridge or the road has gone, just keep your eyes open and when you see an obstacle or the road stops there will be a detour round that someone has made. Yet again no signs just guess work

Everything takes this detour and as we are no entering the Tibetan Desert, my good old friend “sand” is showing it’s ugly presence

The other problem is that the new road is raised and to get back on it is a bit of a challenge as some people found out

The sand got worse, more detours around obstacles meant that it took us 8 hours to complete 159 miles to our next nightly stop.
Wow it is windy and dusty and the picture you see is not out of focus it is the constant wind kicking up the dust

The accommodation does not look much from the outside but it was clean inside
Need to get some sleep as tomorrow is more dirt roads and concentration demand is high but we do get to a hotel.
Yippee!!

8289 miles – Paryang , Tibet
