Lhasa at last 9th June

Early start as the mileage is up again to around 300 and we need to make sure we get to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, at a good time. This will be so that arrangements can be made to visit the Potala Palace which was the home of the Dalai Lama until the Chinese exiled him 51 years ago
The road is good but you need to keep your wits about you as the roads have more vehicles on them and the driving gets worse. I saw a car pull out from a side junction without stopping and it was lucky that Robert was ready for him and had to brake.
Just a few pictures of the route.

There are six check points on this route where you are timed and if you get there too quickly, they heavily fine you and then reduce your speed for the next section. Luckily motorcycles are not included in this scheme. What it does do is make for queues about half a mile away as people sit out the time not to be fined.
Mountain pass were down to around 3 Deg C but as we approached the capital the temperature starts to rise as we go down in altitude to 3600m. It is lovely and warm at a very nice 30 Deg C.
The stay here is for 3 days so I will do all these days as one and will update the blog before I leave as I am not sure when the next connection will be available

9059 miles – Lhasa, Tibet
