Pamir here we come 17th May

Raining as we set off and it is going to be 70 miles approx today but as we know when the miles get less, then the going gets tougher.
This has been the most intense riding I have ever done off road and on a R1200GS as well. FANTASTIC!!!
These machines can handle the serious stuff off road.
The pictures can do most of the talking but you will see snow, river crossings, what happens after you drop your bike in the river and evidence that it is a main road (trucks).

Finally we arrive at the homestay and is definitely better than the previous night and it is time for my bike to have an oil change.
The “Gadget Gang” is down t three at the moment, unfortunately Simon is out for the time being as his starter motor is broken and we believe this happened when he tried to start his bike with water into the heads and caused hydrostatic lock (yes that is his bike with the water squirting out of the cylinder heads). We are looking for a person who can weld Ally but in the meantime, he will be sat in the van with his bike in the back. The other option is to have a part sent to Kashgar when we arrive in a week’s time.

If you look at the picture of the compound, then you will notice a river. On the other side of the river is Afghanistan and we shall be following it for the next three days before we head North. The other side of the river is all mountains and no one lives there to the point that Tajikistan does not even patrol it unlike the borders of the counties which always has a check point
Lets I hope I can keep it upright over the next few days but it has been one fantastic day just a shame we could not finish at the Hyatt Regency

6127 miles – Kalaikhum, Tajikistan
